Veteran Resources & Community Connections

Our Sponsors

Transitioning from military service places ongoing demands on veterans to navigate multiple civilian systems. Access to healthcare, mental health services, transportation, and community support often depends on accurate information and informed direction.

Vet to Vet Winder Chapter functions as a point of guidance for veterans, families, and supporters seeking reliable, community-based resources. We do not provide clinical or professional services. Our role is to help veterans identify appropriate external organizations that support access, stability, and sustained well-being.

Local Veteran & Community Resources

Veterans Resource Center of Barrow County

The Veterans Resource Center of Barrow County serves as a primary local access point for veterans seeking assistance with benefits navigation, referrals, and connection to support programs.

They provide up to two boxes of food per week for veterans, law enforcement, and first responders. Additional support may include access to donated medical supplies such as beds, walkers, and wheelchairs, as well as essential items including adult diapers, pull-ups, and basic hygiene products.

A clothing voucher may be issued when clothing is needed. When funding allows, gas assistance (up to $25) may also be available.

Trauma-Specific Support Resources

Military Sexual Trauma (MST) Support

Some veterans have experienced military sexual trauma or sexual assault during their service. Support resources related to MST are available to help veterans access appropriate care, education, and recovery-focused assistance.

Vet to Vet Winder Chapter may help veterans identify appropriate MST-related resources when requested. Engagement with these resources is voluntary and based on individual readiness and preference.

Mental Health & Wellness Referrals

Vet to Vet Winder Chapter recognizes that peer support does not replace professional care. When appropriate, veterans may be directed toward external providers for mental health and wellness services. These referrals are informational in nature and intended to support informed decision-making.
